NAFO Plans Destruction of Newfoundland Cod Stocks

Outrageous. And Harper plans to let this gang of pirates operate in Canadian waters.

Standing up for Canada?

What a joke.

It's Sad When Cracked does Better Reporting than the CBC

But the fact is they do. Here's Cracked.com's 5 things that don't cause cancer versus CBC Marketplace's complete bullshit piece on cellphones that will kill your kids.

Interesting work we reported on previously.

Political Junk Mail Fills the Box

We've been getting lots if this crap lately as well. Mostly from the Conservatives (full of scary images of murderers and child molesters who would presumably run amuck under any government other than that of the Republici...er...Conservatives ) though it seems the Liberals are playing catch up as well.

Best thing to do we think is send this garbage right back where it came from at the government's expense perhaps with a note suggesting they find a better way to spend tax payers money.

Today's CBC NL Negativity Score Is

-ve stories=3
+ve stories=1

Score = -2

Somewhat Negative

"He once told me that he loved politics, but hated singing 'O Canada' and eating cold plates."

All of which is understandable...

Peter Blows a Smoke Screen

First we have the announcement of some renovations at the Gander air base now this. Funny how none of this has anything to do with actually improving search and rescue capabilities or with keeping the Conservative election promise of a rapid reaction battalion for Goose Bay (broken... cough...promise...cough). On top of that the money announced for the base clean up is being used to clean up an American mess. What's up with that?

Driving people to distraction with their own money. That's what's up with that.

The Negative Newfoundland Media? Lets Do the Math

Is the Newfoundland media too negative? Here's a simple way to add it up. We took a look at CBC's web page and the stories posted there. For each negative headline we assign a value of -1 and for each positive story a value of +1.

Today CBC had 9 negative stories for a total of -9 and 2 positive stories adding up to +2 giving us a CBC negativity score of :

-7

Todays CBC Newfoundland and Labrador: Very Negative

This should be an amusing summer pass time.

We Should be So Proud of Our Representative in Ottawa

Just lovely.

Who elected Mr. Manning anyway?

Oh right. No one that's who. In this case the voters of Avalon can't be blamed for this circus. Of course we all know who to blame don't we?

Your dysfunctional Canadian government "at work".

"Fisheries management shrouded in secrecy, corrupted by politics: study"

The only surprise in these findings is well, forget it, there is no surprise here. Canada's fisheries policy is the poster child for this...

From the Minister for the Protection of the Tar Sands

More from the Raitt tape. Can anyone be surprised by this?

Canada's Legacy in Medical Isotopes to be Abandoned by Harper

Just like the Conservatives to cut and run. Funny how some of the billions in "stimulus" money in the last budget couldn't be put towards a new reactor (the only solution to the problem) yet they could find $10 Billion or more for foreign car companies and to build research labs/university buildings with no actual funds to do any research in the shiny new labs.

They'll look some good from the street though! The shiny empty shells. Good enough to fool the voters into thinking that there's actually something going on in there? Lets hope not.

Canada will go from a world leader in medical isotopes to a non-player. A shameful shirking of an important international role.

Of course passing the buck (and blame) to someone else seems to be the Harper way...

$10 Billion for American Car Companies....$15 Million for Canadian Fishermen

That about sums up the federal government...

Things That Make Us Physically Ill

Mike Duffy and Harper together on stage.

The Duffy-Harper Lovefest continues. As we all know it didn't end with the election.

We'd turn on our bullshit detector to watch this but are afraid it just wouldn't be able to take the strain...

Greenland Ice in Photos

The source of our famous icebergs. Enjoy it while it lasts...

Ocean Acidity Linked to Climate Change

Changes in ocean pH could cause major problems. Fortunately Canada's "New" Conservative government doesn't believe in climate change so no problem, right?

Of course at the rate ministers in this government keep putting their collective feet in their mouths we'll be rid of this ignorant, nasty, vulgar government before long. An election can't come soon enough.

Now that would be "sexy"...
